Replacing Your Roof

Having to replace your entire roof can be a daunting and frustrating task. Many roofing companies take a long time to get the job done. Not only does this put stress on you and your family, but it also affects your home. Here at Sterling Construction, we understand these challenges, which is why we are dedicated to putting you first. We go above and beyond in everything we do, especially when replacing your roofing. But don’t just take our word for it; the proof is in our process!

Unlike many Michigan roofing companies, we start at the foundation. After removing all the old shingles and underlayment, we assess the decking for any damage. Contrary to other roofers in the area who place underlayment over rotting wood, we will replace any damaged decking beforehand. All changes made during this process will be thoroughly documented so that you are always in the loop.

Once we have replaced any damaged decking and assessed any further damage, it is time to install the underlayment. Our synthetic underlayment sheds water right off instead of letting it absorb moisture. This will protect your home, especially from ice accumulation in the winter, and allow it to breathe. The roofing code in Michigan requires underlayment to be installed 24 inches inside the heated wall; we install it four feet past that just to ensure extra protection. We also make sure to wrap all roof penetrations like chimneys, skylights, and vents in the underlayment so that your seams are well-sealed from the outside elements. As penetration points become vulnerable after about 25 years, adding extra protection helps to minimize this risk. Once this process is complete, we finish by adding the shingles.

One of the many unique things about Sterling Contracting is our three-phase clean-up commitment that we guarantee to all customers. We start by having the crew do an initial sweep of the ground looking for any missed trash or scraps. Then, we run a magnet through the grass and surrounding area, picking up any scraps of metal or screws. In phase two, we have the project manager walk the area, picking up any rubbish or pieces of debris they find. This includes the flower beds, trees, and rock areas the building may have. During the third phase, either the salesman of the project or our owner, Sterling, will walk around the property with the customer. This will ensure every last detail is up to par. During this step in the process, we also offer a complimentary gutter cleaning service. We don’t want anything left in your gutters that could potentially harm your brand-new roof.

When it comes to a brand-new roof, you want to make sure that the company you choose has your highest interests in mind. Here at Sterling Contracting, our customers are our top priority. We understand that adding a replacement roof can be quite expensive. This is why we guarantee that our roofs will add massive value to your home, making it a smart investment.
